Anne Macgregor and Silviya Mihaylova first met in September 2007 when Silviya started her undergraduate course at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama where Anne was a third year pianist studying with the same teacher, Fali Pavri. Having quickly discovered similarities in their taste and approach to music, they decided to work as a duo and first performed together a year later, in the BBC Radio 3 Pianothon. Since then they have frequently been chosen to represent the RSAMD in concerts, open days and their annual piano festival. They were privileged to play in the premiere of Rory Boyle’s ‘160 fingers’ for 8 piano duets, commissioned for the 2009 Piano Festival. In December 2009 they won the Peter Lindsay Miller Prize for Piano Duo and in 2012 they were invited for a series of concerts in Bulgaria. As musicians on the Live Music Now! scheme, founded by Yehudi Menuhin, Anne and Silviya have witnessed the power that music has to move people. To engage their audience in this way has become their goal every time that they perform together
